The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(2) of the Marriage (Scotland) Act 2002[1], hereby make the following Order: Citation 1. This Order may be cited as the Marriage (Scotland) Act 2002 (Commencement) Order 2002. Appointed day 2. Section 1 of the Marriage (Scotland) Act 2002 shall come into force on 25th April 2002. EUAN M ROBSON Authorised to sign by the Scottish Ministers St Andrew's House, Edinburgh 11th April 2002 EXPLANATORY NOTE (This note is not part of the Order) This Order brings into force section 1 of the Marriage (Scotland) Act 2002 ("the Act") on 25th April 2002. That section makes provision for the solemnisation of civil marriages at places approved by local authorities. The Act received Royal Assent on 4th April 2002. Section 2 came into force on Royal Assent. This Order brings into force the remaining section of the Act. [1] 2002 asp 8.back
