(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order provides that the Scottish Local Government (Elections) Act 2009, except section 3, comes into force on 30th April 2010.
Section 3 commenced on Royal Assent, which was signified on 21st July 2009.
This Act will change the date of the Local Government elections in Scotland so that they are no longer held in the same year as elections to the Scottish Parliament. It also gives the Scottish Ministers powers to make secondary legislation about publication of information about votes cast at local government elections.
