Summary: The complainant has requested a list of documents that government departments have so far declassified in connection with the Iraq Inquiry. The Cabinet Office stated that the information was exempt under section 22(1). The Information Commissioner considers that the Cabinet Office was entitled to rely upon section 22(1) to withhold the information. However, he found breaches of section 10(1) and section 17(1) in respect of the time taken to issue a refusal notice. He does not require any remedial steps to be taken.
Section of Act/EIR & Finding: FOI 10 - Complaint Upheld, FOI 17 - Complaint Upheld, FOI 22 - Complaint Not upheld
