BAILII is celebrating 24 years of free online access to the law! Would you consider making a contribution?
No donation is too small. If every visitor before 31 December gives just £1, it will have a significant impact on BAILII's ability to continue providing free access to the law.
Thank you very much for your support!

28 August 2014, Central government
The complainant requested the number of people detained or arrested from a ferry that arrived in Newcastle from Amsterdam on a specified date. The Home Office refused to disclose this information and cited the exemptions provided by sections 31(1)(a) (prejudice to the prevention or detection of crime) and 31(1)(e) (prejudice to the immigration controls). The Commissioner’s decision is that these exemptions were cited correctly and so the Home Office was not required to disclose the requested information.
