Department for Energy Security & Net Zero

The complainant made a series of requests for emails exchanged within the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (‘BEIS’) during specified periods of the Covid-19 pandemic. BEIS refused the requests as it considered that compliance would exceed the cost limit under section 12 FOIA. The Commissioner’s decision is that BEIS has correctly cited section 12(1) FOIA in response to the final refined request. It has also complied with its duty to provide advice and assistance in line with the requirements of section 16 FOIA. The Commissioner does not require BEIS to take any steps.

FOI 12(1): Complaint not upheld FOI 16: Complaint not upheld

Decision notice: 179595
