Her Majesty, in pursuance of section 31 of the United Reformed Church Act 1981((1)), is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:-
1. This Order may be cited as the United Reformed Church Act 1981 (Guernsey) Order 1987 and shall come into force on 26th December 1987.
2. In this Order, the expression "Guernsey" means the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
3. Sections 1, 2, 18, 19, 21, 24, 28 and 29 of, and Schedule 1 to, the United Reformed Church Act 1981 shall extend to Guernsey with the exceptions, adaptations and modifications specified in the Schedule to this Order.

Article 3
1. Any reference to an Act of Parliament (including the United Reformed Church Act 1981), or to any provision thereof, which extends to Guernsey shall be construed, unless the contrary intention appears, as a reference to that Act or provision as it has effect in Guernsey.
2. In section 2-
(a) the definitions of "Association", "Churches of Christ", "clerk", "commissioners", "date of unification", "dissolved association", "Moderator", "Proposals for Unification", "Unifying Assembly", "Unifying Declaration" and "uniting church" shall be omitted; and
(b) after the definition of "Act of 1972" there shall be inserted the following definition:-
" "the court" means the Royal Court of Guernsey;".
3.-(1) In section 21(1)-
(a)for the words "commencement of this Act" there shall be substituted the words "date of extension of this section to Guernsey";
(b)in paragraphs (a) and (b), for the words "formation as defined in the Act of 1972" there shall be substituted the words "the extension of the Act of 1972 to Guernsey";
(c)paragraphs (c) and (d) shall be omitted;
(d)for the words "passing of this Act" there shall be substituted the words "extension of this section to Guernsey";
(e)in paragraph (i), for the words "5th October 1972" there shall be substituted the words "3rd June 1981"; and
(f)paragraphs (iii) and (iv) shall be omitted.
(2) In section 21(2)-
(a)for the words "commencement of this Act" there shall be substituted the words "date of extension of this section to Guernsey";
(b)for the words "said date of formation" there shall be substituted the words "date of extension of the Act of 1972 to Guernsey"; and
(c)the words "and section 15" shall be omitted.
(3) Section 21(3) shall be omitted.
4. In section 24, for the words "society, or uniting church" there shall be substituted the words "or society".
5. In section 29, the words "the commissioners" shall be omitted.
6. In Schedule 1, paragraph 1 shall be omitted.

This Order extends to the Bailiwick of Guernsey certain provisions of the United Reformed Church Act 1981, with the exceptions, adaptations and modifications specified in the Schedule. Those provisions amend the United Reformed Church Act 1972 (c. xviii) which was extended to Guernsey by the United Reformed Church Act 1972 (Guernsey) Order 1981 (S.I. 1981/738).
