REPRESENTATION OF THE PEOPLE

The Representation of the People Act 1985 (Commencement No. 4) Order 1987

13th February 1987

In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 29(2) of the Representation of the People Act 1985,(1) I hereby make the following Order:-

1. This Order may be cited as the Representation of the People Act 1985 (Commencement No. 4) Order 1987.

2. Paragraph 34 of Schedule 4 to the Representation of the People Act 1985 shall come into force on 30th March 1987 except for the purposes of an election in respect of which the notice of election is published before that date.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force the last remaining provision of the Representation of the People Act 1985 which may be brought into force by order under section 29(2) of that Act. Separate provision is made by section 10 of that Act about the bringing into force of Schedule 1 to that Act.
