The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 85(2) and 107 of the Road Traffic Act 1972(1), now vested in him(2), and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with representative organisations in accordance with section 199(2) of that Act, and with the approval of the Treasury, hereby makes the following Regulations:-
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Amendment) Regulations 1987 and shall come into force on 27th April 1987.
2. The Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) Regulations 1981(3) shall be further amended in accordance with the following provisions of these Regulations.
3. In paragraph (3) of regulation 17 (fees in respect of tests), for sub-paragraph (b) there shall be substituted the following sub-paragraph -
"(b)in the case of any other test, £14.40 if the application for the appointment for the test is received by the Secretary of State before 27th April 1987 and £15 in any other case, save that no fee is payable in respect of a test to be taken in an invalid carriage.".

These Regulations further amend the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) Regulations 1981. They increase the fee for Part II of the driving test for a motor bicycle, and for the ordinary motor car driving test, from £14.40 to £15. There is no increase in the fee for Part I of the motor bicycle test, and tests for invalid carriages remain free.
The fees at the existing rates remain payable in cases where the relevant application is received before 27th April 1987.
