The Secretary of State for Social Services, in exercise of powers conferred on him by section 8(1) and (1A) of and paragraph 2(1) of Schedule 5 to the National Health Service Act 1977(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf,m hereby makes the following Order:-�
1. This Order may be cited as the National Health Service (Constitution of District Health Authority) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 1st April 1988.
2.-(1) The District Health Authorities known as Paddington and North Kensington Health Authority and Brent Health Authority are hereby abolished.
(2) Accordingly in Part 5 of Schedule 2 to the National Health Service (Constitution of District Health Authorities) Order 1981((2)) the entries in column (1) "Brent" and "Paddington and North Kensington", and any entries in columns (2) to (10) relating to them, shall be omitted.
3. There is hereby established for Parkside District specified in Part I of Schedule 2 to the National Health Service (Determination of Districts) Order 1981((3)) a District Health Authority which shall be known by the name of "Parkside Health Authority".
4.-(1) In addition to a chairman appointed by the Secretary of State, Parkside Health Authority shall consist of 18 members appointed in accordance with part I of Schedule 5 to the National Health Service Act 1977 and the following provisions of this Order.
(2) Of those 18 members-
(a)2 shall be appointed by the North West Thames Regional Health Authority on the nomination of the University of London which is associated with the provision of health services in that authority's region;
(b)11 shall be appointed by the North West Thames Regional Health Authority;
(c)5 shall be appointed by local authorities of which 2 shall be appointed by the Brent London Borough Council, 1 by the Kensington and Chelsea Royal Borough Council, 1 by the Westminster City Council and 1 by the Inner London Education Authority.

This Order constitutes a District Health Authority to be known as Parkside Health Authority in the place of Paddington and North Kensington Health Authority and Brent Health Authority which were constituted by the National Health Service (Constitution of Districts) Order 1981 which two authorities it abolishes. It specifies the number of members of the new authority appointed by or on the nomination of specified bodies in accordance with the National Health Service Act 1977.
1977 c. 49; section 8(1) was amended by the Health Services Act 1980 (c. 53), Schedule 1, Part I, paragraph 28; section 8(1A) was amended by the Health and Social Services and Social Security Adjudications Act 1983 (c. 41), Schedule 10, Part I.
S.I. 1981/1838, to which there are amendments not relevant to this Order.
