The Board of Inquiry (Army) (Amendment) Rules 1989

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 135 of the Army Act 1955(1) and all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Rules:-�

Citation and Commencement

1. These Rules may be cited as the Board of Inquiry (Army) (Amendment) Rules 1989 and shall come into force on 31st March 1989.

Amendment to the Principal Rules

2. The Board of Inquiry (Army) Rules 1956(2) shall be amended in rule 13 by the deletion in paragraph (3)(a) of the words

"and states as the ground of his objection either that he has no religious belief or that the taking of an oath is contrary to his religious belief,".

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Rules)

These Rules further amend the Board of Inquiry (Army) Rules 1956, by removing the condition that a witness before a board who objects to taking an oath should, before being permitted to affirm, state as the grounds of his objection that he has no religious belief, or that the taking of an oath is contrary to his religious belief.
