The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 69(2) of the Administration of Justice Act 1985(1), hereby makes the following Order-
1. This Order may be cited as the Administration of Justice Act 1985 (Commencement No. 6) Order 1989.
2. Sections 40, 41, 42, 43 and 44 of the Administration of Justice Act 1985 shall come into force on 1st April 1989.

This Order brings into force on 1st April 1989 sections 40, 41, 42, 43 and 44 of the Administration of Justice Act 1985 (legal aid complaints). Sections 41 and 42 are substituted by section 33 of the Legal Aid Act 1988 (c. 34). Section 40 defines a legal aid complaint. Sections 41 and 43 provide respectively for disciplinary provisions to apply to legal aid complaints about the conduct of barristers and solicitors. Sections 42 and 44 provide respectively for the exclusion of barristers and solicitors from legal aid work as a result of disciplinary proceedings.
