1. The Rules may be cited as the Patents (Amendment) Rules 1990 and shall come into force on 13th August 1990.
2. Rule 90 of the Patents Rules 1982(3) is amended by omitting paragraphs (3) and (4) thereof.
Douglas Hogg
Minister of State,
Department of Trade and Industry
18th July 1990
(This note is not part of the Rules)
These Rules revoke paragraphs (3)and (4) of Rule 90 of the Patents Rules 1982, which authorised the comptroller to refuse to recognise certain agents in respect of any business under that Act. The revocation is consequential on the coming into force of section 281 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (c. 48) and the making of rules thereunder to authorise the Comptroller-General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks to refuse to deal with certain agents - see S.I.1990/1454 (The Patents Agents (Non-recognition of Certain Agents by Comptroller) Rules 1990).
