1. The length of the Trunk Road described in the Schedule to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road as from the date on which this Order comes into force.
2. In this Order-
(a)"the deposited plan" | means the plan numbered RSE A423/5/65/2/1, marked "The A423 Trunk Road (Sandford on Thames) Detrunking Order 1990", signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY; |
(b)"principal road" | as a classification for a new highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State; |
(c)"the Trunk Road" | means the A423 Trunk Road. |
3. This Order shall come into force on 1st October 1990 and may be cited as the A423 Trunk Road (Sandford on Thames) Detrunking Order 1990.

The length of the Trunk Road ceasing to be a trunk road is the slip road connecting Henley Road with the southbound carriageway of the Trunk Road (being part of the interchange layout at Sandford on Thames in the County of Oxfordshire), and comprises a total length of approximately 420 metres (measured along the route of the slip road).
