The Secretary of State, in exercise of his powers under section 1(3) of the Aircraft and Shipbuilding Industries Act 1977(1), hereby makes the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the British Shipbuilders Regulations 1991 and shall come into force on 31st July 1991.
2. Section 1(2)(b) of the Aircraft and Shipbuilding Industries Act 1977 shall have effect with the substitution of the figure "2" for the figure "7".
3. In Regulations 5(1) and 8 of the British Shipbuilders Regulations 1977(2) the words "or six, whichever is the greater number" shall cease to have effect.

These Regulations amend section 1(2)(b) of the Aircraft and Shipbuilding Industries Act 1977 by reducing the minimum number of members of British Shipbuilders in addition to the chairman from 7 to 2. They also make consequential amendments to the British Shipbuilders Regulations 1977 regarding the quorum and resolutions in writing of British Shipbuilders.
