SALMON AND FRESHWATER FISHERIES

The Secretary of State, on application to him by the River Tay District Salmon Fishery Board, having carried out all necessary consultations, complied with all necessary procedures and considered the representations and objections made as required by paragraphs 3, 4 and 7 of Schedule 1 to the Salmon Act 1986(1), as applied by section 8(5) of that Act, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 8 of that Act and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the River Tay Salmon Fishery District (Baits and Lures) Regulations 1992 and shall come into force on 1st September 1992.
2. These Regulations apply during the period from the 1st of September in each year to the end of the period during which it is permitted to fish for and take salmon by rod and line.
3. Natural prawns and shrimps (whether fresh or preserved, dyed or natural colour) and any part thereof are, in relation to the River Tay Salmon Fishery District(2), specified for the purposes of the definition of "rod and line" in section 24(1) of the Salmon and Freshwater Fisheries (Protection) (Scotland) Act 1951(3).

These Regulations specify natural prawns and shrimps and any part of them for the purposes of the definition of "rod and line" in section 24(1) of the Salmon and Freshwater Fisheries (Protection) (Scotland) Act 1951. These Regulations apply during the period from 1st September in each year to the end of the period during which it is permitted to fish for and take salmon by rod and line. In the case of the Rivers Earn and Eden the period is from 1st September to 31st October both dates inclusive and elsewhere in the River Tay Salmon Fishery District it is from 1st September to 15th October both dates inclusive.
The limits of the District are set out in Schedule A to the Salmon Fisheries (Scotland) Act 1868 (c. 123) and were extended by the Salmon Act 1986, section 1.
