The A27 Trunk Road (Polegate Bypass Slip Roads) Order 1993

Coming into force

1st September 1993

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 41 of the Highways Act 1980(1), and now vested in him(2), and of all other enabling powers:-�

1. The new highways which the Secretary of State proposes to construct along the routes described in the Schedule to this Order which connect the main new trunk road with other highways at the places stated in that Schedule (the highways along these routes being in this Order referred to as "the slip roads"), shall become trunk roads as from the date when this Order comes into force.

2. The centre line of each of the slip roads is indicated by a heavy black line on the deposited plan.

3. In this Order-�

(1) all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway;

(2) (i) "the deposited plan" means the plan numbered PSE A27/13D/65/2/5, marked "The A27 Trunk Road (Polegate Bypass Slip Roads) Order 1993", signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY;

(ii)"the main newtrunk road" means the new trunk road to be constructed pursuant to the A27 Trunk Road (Polegate Bypass) Order 1993(3);

(iii)"the slip roads" has the meaning given in article 1 above;

(iv)"the Side Roads Order" means the A27 Trunk Road (Polegate Bypass Side Roads) Order 1993; and

(v)"the Trunk Road" means the Folkestone-�Honiton Trunk Road (A27).

4. This Order shall come into force on 1st September 1993 and may be cited as the A27 Trunk Road (Polegate Bypass Slip Roads) Order 1993.

SCHEDULEROUTES OF THE SLIP ROADS

Routes of the slip roads, connecting with a roundabout to be constructed by the Secretary of State pursuant to the Side Roads Order (linking with the A22 and other highways to be constructed or improved by him pursuant to the Side Roads Order), north of Polegate in the County of East Sussex-�

(a)to the eastbound carriageway of the main new trunk road from that roundabout (the slip road along this route is given the reference letter A on the deposited plan);

(b)from the westbound carriageway of the main new trunk road to that roundabout (the slip road along this route is given the reference letter B on the deposited plan);

(c)from the southbound carriageway of the A22 to the slip road described in paragraph (a) of this Schedule (the slip road along this route is given the reference letter C on the deposited plan).
