The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 35 of the Antarctic Act 1994(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Antarctic Act 1994 (Commencement) Order 1997.
2. Section 5 of the Antarctic Act 1994 shall come into force on 1st June 1997.

(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order brings into force on 1st June 1997 Section 5 of the Antarctic Act 1994. The section makes provision for permits for British vessels and aircraft entering Antarctica.
