The Attorney General, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by sections 7 and 8 of the Prosecution of Offences Act 1985(1), hereby makes the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Prosecution of Offences (Revocation) Regulations 1997 and shall come into force on 1st April 1997.
2. The Prosecution of Offences Regulations 1978(2) are hereby revoked.

These Regulations revoke the Prosecution of Offences Regulations 1978, which made provision with respect to certain functions of the Director of Public Prosecutions and the furnishing to him by chief officers of the police, magistrates and clerks of magistrates' courts of information about criminal offences and proceedings.
S.I. 1978/1357, amended by S.I. 1978/1846 and S.I. 1985/243. The Regulations ceased to have effect, in part, on the repeal of the Prosecution of Offences Act 1979 (c. 31) by section 31(6) of, and Schedule 2 to, the Prosecution of Offences Act 1985 (c. 23).
