Whereas the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions considers it appropriate for certain roads in the London borough of Merton to be GLA side roads in the interests of the management of traffic and the control of the waiting and loading of vehicles on or in the immediate vicinity of GLA roads:

Now therefore the Secretary of State in exercise of the powers conferred by section 124A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(1) hereby makes the following Order:-

Citation and commencement

1. This Order may be cited as the GLA Side Roads (London Borough of Merton) Designation Order 2000 and shall come into force on 19th June 2000.

Designation of GLA side roads

2.-(1) The roads in the London borough of Merton specified in the Schedule to this Order are hereby designated as GLA side roads(2).

(2) The description of a road includes the intersection of that road and any other road that crosses it at the same level.

(3) In the Schedule "m" means metres.

(4) In accordance with section 124A(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, 3rd July 2000 is hereby specified as the date on which the designated roads are to become GLA side roads.

THE SCHEDULEROADS IN THE LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON DESIGNATED AS GLA SIDE ROADS

Roads in the vicinity of A3

1. Beverley Way-

(a)the south west bound slip road (between Bushey Road and Beverley Way (A3) between its junction with Beverley Way (A3) and a point 8m north east of the north eastern flank wall of Raynes Park High School;

(b)the slip road between the south bound slip road from Beverley Way (A3) and Bushey Road from the south bound slip road from Beverley Way (A3) to a point 2m east of the common boundary between Apex House Bushey Road and 84 Bushey Road;

(c)the north bound service road between the south west bound slip road from Bushey Road to Beverley Way (A3) and the slip road between Beverley Way (A3) south bound slip road and Bushey Road.

2. Burlington Road-

(a)(west of A3) between its junction with Shannon Corner and a point 23m west of a point opposite the eastern wall of 175 Burlington Road;

(b)(east of A3) between its junction with Shannon Corner and a point 42m east of that junction.

3. Bushey Road (flyover) between its junction with Beverley Way London-bound slip road and a point 30m north east of that junction.

4. Byron Avenue between its junction with Malden Way (south west bound on-slip from Shannon Corner to A3) and a point 25m south east of that junction.

5. Cobham Avenue between its junction with Malden Way (south west bound on-slip from Shannon Corner to A3) and a point 20m south east of that junction.

6. Consfield Avenue between its junction with Malden Way (south west bound on-slip from Shannon Corner to A3) and a point 24m south east of that junction.

7. Huntley Way between its junction with Beverley Way service road and an imaginary straight line drawn between the common boundary of 2 and 4 Huntley Way and 1 and 3 Huntley Way.

8. Stanley Avenue between its junction with Malden Way (south west bound on-slip from Shannon Corner to A3) and a point 20m south east of that junction.

Roads in the vicinity of A24

9. Abbottsbury Road between a point 13m north east of the party wall of 11 and 13 Abbottsbury Road and its junction with London Road.

10. Aberconway Road-

(a)(north east side) between a point opposite the common boundary of the public conveniences and 34 Aberconway Road and its junction with London Road;

(b)(south west side) between a point opposite the common boundary of 32 and 34 Aberconway Road and its junction with London Road.

11. Briscoe Road between a point 4m south east of the north western flank of 2a Briscoe Road and its junction with High Street Collier's Wood.

12. Byegrove Road-

(a)(north east side) between a point 25m north west of the front wall of 126 High Street Collier's Wood and its junction with High Street Collier's Wood;

(b)(south west side) between a point 19.5m north west of a point opposite the front wall of 126 High Street Collier's Wood and its junction with High Street Collier's Wood.

13. Cavendish Road-

(a)(north side) between a point 4.5m east of a point opposite the common boundary of 2 and 4 Cavendish Road and its junction with High Street Collier's Wood;

(b)(south side) between a point 4.5m west of the common boundary of Nos. 2 and 4 Cavendish Road and its junction with High Street Collier's Wood.

14. Central Road-

(a)(north side) between a point 60m east of the eastern kerbline of London Road and its junction with London Road;

(b)(south side) between a point 58m east of the eastern kerbline of London Road and its junction with London Road.

15. Chalgrove Avenue between a point 1.5m north west of the rear wall of 225 London Road and its junction with London Road.

16. Christchurch Close between a point opposite the party wall of 1 to 2 and 3 to 6 Wimbourne Court and its junction with Christchurch Road.

17. Christchurch Road-

(a)(east side) between a point 3.5m north of the northern flank wall of 106 Christchurch Road and its junction with Merantun Way;

(b)(west side) between its junction with Runnymede and its junction with Merantun Way.

18. Christchurch Road between its junction with High Street Collier's Wood and its junction with Priory Road.

19. College Road-

(a)(north east side) between a point 14m north west of the front wall of 108 High Street Collier's Wood and its junction with High Street Collier's Wood;

(b)(south west side) between a point 18m north west of the front wall of 110 High Street Collier's Wood and its junction with High Street Collier's Wood.

20. Colwood Gardens between a point 10m west of the rear property boundary of 46 Christchurch Road and its junction with Christchurch Road.

21. Crown Lane between a point 2.5m east of the party wall of 60 and 62 Crown Lane and its junction with Crown Road.

22. Dorset Road between a point 1m south east of the common boundary of 153 and 151 Dorset Road and its junction with Morden Road.

23. Dudley Drive between its junction with Tudor Drive and a point 13m north east of the south western boundary wall of 27 Tudor Drive.

24. Elm Road West (north east side) between a point 6m north west of the rear property boundary of 93 Epsom Road and its junction with Epsom Road.

25. Fortescue Road-

(a)(north west side) between a point 10m south west of the rear property boundary of 74 Christchurch Road and its junction with Christchurch Road;

44. Rutland Drive between a point 1m south east of the rear property boundary of 51 Epsom Road and its junction with Epsom Road.

45. Savacentre car park access between a point 11m north west of the north western tip of the splitter island at the south eastern end of the car park access and its junction with Merantun Way.

46. Savacentre service access between a point 15m north west of the north western tip of the splitter island at the south eastern end of the service access and its junction with Merantun Way.

47. South Gardens-

(a)(north side) between its junction with Christchurch Road and its junction with Valley Gardens;

(b)(south side) from its junction with the eastern kerbline of Christchurch Road eastwards for a distance of 77.5m.

48. Stanley Road between a point opposite the rear property boundary of 37 Crown Road and its junction with Crown Road.

(b)(west arm) between a point 5.5m east of the western flank wall of No. 93 Middleton Road and its junction with St. Helier Avenue.

66. Morden Road between a point 53m west of the western kerbline of Boxley Road and its junction with St. Helier Avenue.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

Section 272 of the Greater London Authority Act 1999 inserts a new section 124A into the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 whereby the Secretary of State may designate roads or proposed roads which are to be GLA side roads, for which Transport for London will be the traffic authority. This Order designates the roads in the London Borough of Merton specified in the Schedule as GLA side roads with effect from 3rd July 2000.
