The A4 Trunk Road (Great West Road and Boston Manor Road, Hounslow) (Prohibition of Traffic Movements) Order 2000

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 6(1) and (3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after consultation with the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis pursuant to section 7(6) of that Act(2), hereby makes the following Order:

1. This Order may be cited as the A4 Trunk Road (Great West Road and Boston Manor Road, Hounslow) (Prohibition of Traffic Movements) Order 2000 and shall come into force on 20th March 2000.

2. In this Order:

"the trunk road" means that length of the A4 Trunk Road in the London Borough of Hounslow known as Great West Road;

"Boston Manor Road" means the road of that name in the London Borough of Hounslow;

"north western traffic island" means the triangular shaped traffic island in the north east bound carriageway of the trunk road at the point where the extreme nearside lane of the north east bound carriageway diverges from the outer three lanes at the junction with Boston Manor Road; and

"south eastern traffic island" means the triangular shaped traffic island in the south west bound carriageway of the trunk road at the point where the exit slip road of the south west bound carriageway diverges from the main carriageway towards Boston Manor Road.

3. Save as provided in article 4 below, no person shall cause or permit any vehicle-

(a)having entered the main carriageway of the trunk road from the nearside lane of Boston Manor Road which lies to the north-west of the trunk road to proceed in any direction other than left;

(b)to enter the main carriageway of the trunk road from the offside lane of Boston Manor Road which lies to the north-west of the trunk road and turn right;

(c)travelling in the north east bound carriageway of the trunk road and having passed to the south east of the north western traffic island to proceed in any direction other than straight ahead; or

(d)travelling in the south west bound carriageway of the trunk road and having passed to the north west of the south eastern traffic island to proceed in any direction other than straight ahead.

4. Nothing in article 3 above shall apply to:-

(a)any vehicle being used for Police, Fire Brigade or Ambulance purposes; or

(b)anything done at the direction or with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a traffic warden.
