TELECOMMUNICATIONS

The Public Telecommunication System Designation (Telekom Malaysia (UK) Limited) Order 2002

  Made 18th February 2002 
  Laid before Parliament 25th February 2002 
  Coming into force 26th March 2002 

Whereas the Secretary of State has granted to Telekom Malaysia (UK) Limited on 12th December 2001 a licence ("the Licence") under section 7 of the Telecommunications Act 1984[1] ("the Act"), to which section 8 of the Act applies, for the running of the telecommunication systems specified in the Licence ("the Applicable Systems"):

     Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on her by section 9 of the Act, hereby makes the following Order:

     1. This Order may be cited as the Public Telecommunication System Designation (Telekom Malaysia (UK) Limited) Order 2002 and shall come into force on 26th March 2002.

    
2. Each of the Applicable Systems is hereby designated as a public telecommunication system.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


The Secretary of State granted to Telekom Malaysia (UK) Limited a licence on 12 December 2001 under section 7 of the Telecommunications Act 1984 to run the telecommunication systems specified in the licence. A copy of this licence was laid before Parliament on 25th February 2002. This Order designates those telecommunication systems as public telecommunication systems. Consequently, by virtue of section 9(3) of that Act, Telekom Malaysia (UK) Limited will be a public telecommunications operator when the Order comes into force on 26th March 2002.
