EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order corrects an error in the Protection of Military Remains Act 1986 (Designation of Vessels and Controlled Sites) Order 2002, article 3(c)(ii) of which gives the wrong co-ordinates for an area that it designates as a controlled site. Article 3(c)(ii) gives the co-ordinates of the area to be designated as lying at longitude East. This Order corrects that co-ordinate to show that the area designated as a controlled site lies at longitude West.

This Order is being made available free of charge to all those who can show that they have already bought or who subsequently buy the Protection of Military Remains Act 1986 (Designation of Vessels and Controlled Sites) Order 2002.

Notes:

[1] 1986 c. 35. The power to designate any land as, or as part of, a controlled site is exercisable in relation to Crown land as it is exercisable in relation to other land: see section 1(7). The terms "controlled site" and "remains" are defined in section 9(1). Section 9(2) states when a vessel is to be regarded as having been in military service.back
