The Health Professions Order 2001 (Consequential Amendments) Order 2003

  Made 18th June 2003 
  Laid before Parliament 18th June 2003 
  Coming into force 9th July 2003 

The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 63 of the Health Act 1999[1], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement
     1. This Order may be cited as the Health Professions Order 2001 (Consequential Amendments) Order 2003 and shall come into force on 9th July 2003.

Extent
    
2. The extent of any amendment of any enactment or instrument in the Schedule to this Order is the same as that of the enactment or instrument amended, but paragraphs 27, 29 and 31 apply to England only.

Consequential amendments
    
3. The enactments specified in the Schedule to this Order are amended as there specified.

     27.  - (1) The National Health Service (Professions Supplementary to Medicine) Regulations 1974[28] are amended in accordance with this paragraph.

     30. In the Schedule to the Judicial Committee (Professions Supplementary to Medicine Rules) Order 1964[33] - 

National Assistance (Professions Supplementary to Medicine) Regulations 1964
     31.  - (1) The National Assistance (Professions Supplementary to Medicine) Regulations 1964[34] are amended in accordance with this paragraph.

    (2) In regulation 2 (which relates to interpretation) - 

    (3) In regulation 3 (which relates to employment by local authorities of health professionals to provide welfare services), for ", physiotherapist or remedial gymnast" substitute "or physiotherapist".

    (4) After regulation 3, insert -

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


This Order makes a number of amendments to primary and secondary legislation consequential on the implementation of the Health Professions Order 2001 (S.I. 2002 No. 254) and the repeal of parts of the Professions Supplementary to Medicine Act 1960, as a result of which the Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine has been replaced by the Health Professions Council.
