The State Pension Credit (Amendment) (Northern Ireland) Regulations 2003

  Made 21st August 2003 
  Laid before Parliament 22nd August 2003 
  Coming into force 6th October 2003 

The Treasury, with the concurrence of the Department for Social Development[1], in exercise of the powers conferred upon them by sections 3(2) and 171(3) to (5) and (10) of the Social Security Contributions and Benefits (Northern Ireland) Act 1992[2], and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement
     1. These Regulations may be cited as the State Pension Credit (Amendment) (Northern Ireland) Regulations 2003 and shall come into force on 6th October 2003.

Interpretation
    
2. In these Regulations "the principal Regulations" means the State Pension Credit Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003[3] and "regulation" means a regulation of the principal Regulations.

Amendments to the principal Regulations
     3. Amend the principal Regulations as follows.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


These Regulations make amendments to the State Pension Credit Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003 (S.R. 2003 No. 28) ("the principal Regulations").

Regulation 1 provides for citation and commencement, and regulation 2 for interpretation.

Regulation 3 introduces the amendments to the principal Regulations made by regulations 4 and 5.

Regulation 4 inserts a new definition of "the Computation of Earnings Regulations" in regulation 1(2) of the principal Regulations.

Regulation 5 inserts new regulations 17A and 17B in the principal Regulations providing for the meaning and calculation of "earnings" of employed earners and self-employed earners respectively for the purposes of state pension credit.

These Regulations do not impose any costs on business.
