REPRESENTATION OF THE PEOPLE

The European Parliament (Representation) Act 2003 (Commencement No. 6) Order 2004

  Made 22nd March 2004 

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 28(3) and (4) of the European Parliament (Representation) Act 2003[1], makes the following Order:

Citation
     1. This Order may be cited as the European Parliament (Representation) Act 2003 (Commencement No. 6) Order 2004.

Commencement of provisions in European Parliament (Representation) Act 2003
    
2. The European Parliament (Representation) Act 2003, so far as it is not already in force, shall come into force in the United Kingdom and Gibraltar on 23rd March 2004.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


This Order brings into force on 23rd March 2004, in the United Kingdom and Gibraltar, the provisions of the European Parliament (Representation) Act 2003 that have not previously been brought into force by earlier commencement Orders.

The provisions brought into force by this Order have the effect of extending those parts of the Act to Gibraltar which have not already been so extended and commencing sections 15 and 16 and the remainder of section 19 of the Act in the United Kingdom and Gibraltar. Sections 15 and 16 make provision for the entitlement to vote and entitlement to be registered to vote in Gibraltar. Section 19 extends the European Parliamentary Elections Act 2002, except Schedules 3 and 4, to Gibraltar.
