The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980[1] and now vested in him[2], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf:
1.
This Order may be cited as the A1033 Trunk Road (Hedon Road) (Trunking and Detrunking) Order 2004 and shall come into force on 15th February 2005.
2.
The A1033 Trunk Road (Hedon Road) (Detrunking) Order 1994 is hereby revoked.[3][a]
3.
In this Order -
(1) all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway;
(i) "the plan" means the plan numbered HA 10/MP/038 marked "The A1033 Trunk Road (Hedon Road) (Trunking and Detrunking) Order 2004", signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport and deposited at the ODPM-DfT Records Management Branch, Floor 13 (IMD), Ashdown House, St Leonards on Sea, Hastings, East Sussex TN37 7GA;
(ii) "principal road" as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State; and
(iii) "the trunk road" means the Trunk Road (A1033).
4.
From the date when this Order comes into force:
(a) the length of highway described in Schedule 1 to this Order shall become a trunk road, and
(b) the length of the trunk road described in Schedule 2 to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road.

SCHEDULE 1
LENGTH OF HIGHWAY BECOMING A TRUNK ROAD
The length of highway becoming a trunk road is:
The A1033 Hedon Road, from a point at the start of the diverge taper to the westbound exit slip road (marked 'X' on the plan) to the limit of the existing A1033 Trunk Road (Hedon Road) just 62 metres east of the Salt End Roundabout (marked 'Y' on the plan), a distance of 497 metres in length, and is shown by broad white dashes on the plan.
SCHEDULE 2
LENGTH OF THE TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD
The length of the trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is:
from the A63 Trunk Road (Garrison Road)'s junction with Mount Pleasant North Roundabout (marked 'A' on the plan) to the A1033 Trunk Road (Hedon Road)'s junction with Southcoates Lane (marked 'B' on the plan), a distance of 1,194 metres in length, and is shown by broad black dashes on the plan.
