EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order designates as a restricted area for the purposes of the Protection of Wrecks Act 1973 an area within a distance of 200 metres from the site of the wreck of the Royal Anne Galley, off the Lizard Point, Cornwall.

An area around the site was previously designated as a restricted area under the Protection of Wrecks (Designation No.2) Order 1993. The Protection of Wrecks (Designation) (England) (No.3) Order 2006, which was due to come into force on 7th June 2006, was intended to correct the position of the restricted area, and extend it. This Order corrects the position of the restricted area, extends the restricted area to 200 metres and revokes the 1993 and 2006 Orders.
