(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations repeal the Birmingham City Council Act 1985 and are made under provision in the Deregulation Act 2015 ("the 2015 Act"). That provision in the 2015 Act empowers the Secretary of State to repeal, by statutory instrument, any local Act passed before the 2015 Act which made provision for authorising races or trials of speed between motor vehicles on highways in England and Wales. The Birmingham City Council Act 1985 is one such Act.

An impact assessment has not been prepared for this instrument as no significant impact on the private or voluntary sector is foreseen.
