I, JOHN LYNCH, Minister for Finance, on the representation of the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, made in exercise of the powers conferred on him by the Posts and Telegraphs (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order, 1967 ( S.I. No. 158 of 1967 ), as testified by his signature hereon and in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 2, 12 and 82 of the Post Office Act, 1908, hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Warrant may be cited as the Inland Post Amendment (No. 14) Warrant, 1968.
|
|
|
(2) This Warrant shall come into operation on the 1st day of January, 1969.
|
|
|
2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Warrant.
|
|
|
3. In this Warrant "the Principal Warrant" means the Inland Post Warrant, 1939 ( S.R. & O. No. 202 of 1939 ).
|
|
|
4. Regulation 23 (2) of the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for "two shillings and fourpence" (inserted by Regulation 4 of the Inland Post Amendment (No. 13) Warrant, 1964 ( S.I. No. 122 of 1964 )) of "two shillings and ninepence".
|
|
|
5. Paragraph (2) of the proviso to Regulation 25 of the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for "twopence" (inserted by Regulation 5 of the Inland Post Amendment (No. 13) Warrant, 1964 ( S.I. No. 122 of 1964 )) of "threepence".
|
|
|
6. Regulation 45 of the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for "four pounds" (inserted by Regulation 7 of the Inland Post Amendment (No. 8) Warrant, 1956 ( S.I. No. 116 of 1956 )) of "five pounds".
|
|
|
7. (1) The First Schedule to the Principal Warrant, as amended by the Regulations specified in the next paragraph, is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein numbered 1,2,3,4,5 and 7 of the entries in the First Schedule to this Warrant.
|
|
|
(2) The Regulations referred to in the foregoing paragraph are Regulation 8 of the Inland Post Amendment (No. 4) Warrant, 1953 ( S.I. No. 279 of 1953 ), Regulation 5 of the Inland Post Amendment (No. 7) Warrant, 1954 ( S.I. No. 65 of 1954 ), Regulation 9 of the Inland Post Amendment (No. 8) Warrant, 1956, Regulations 5 of the Inland Post Amendment (No. 10) Warrant, 1960 ( S.I. No. 48 of 1960 ), Regulation 5 of the Inland Post Amendment (No. 11) Warrant, 1962 ( S.I. No. 66 of 1962 ), Regulation 5 of the Inland Post Amendment (No. 12) Warrant, 1963 ( S.I. No. 153 of 1963 ) and Regulation 6 of the Inland Post Amendment (No. 13) Warrant, 1964.

(3) The Second Schedule to the Principal Warrant, as amended by Regulation 6 of the Inland Post Amendment (No. 10) Warrant, 1960 ( S.I. No. 48 of 1960 ) and Regulation 6 (3) of the Inland Post Amendment (No. 13) Warrant, 1964, is hereby amended by the substitution for the entry numbered 3 therein of the entry in the Second Schedule to this Warrant.

(4) The Fourth Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (inserted by Regulation 6 (5) of the Inland Post Amendment (No. 13) Warrant, 1964, of the entries in the Third Schedule hereto.
|
|
|
8. The Second Schedule to the Inland Post Amendment (No. 11) Warrant, 1962, is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein of the entries in the Fourth Schedule to this Warrant.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.
|
|
|
This Warrant applies to the Inland Post service and comes into operation on the 1st January, 1969. It authorises increases in the letter, postcard, printed packet, newspaper, sample packet and parcel post rates of postage, and in the fees for the following services:--
|
|
|
(i) Registration
|
|
|
(ii) Customs clearance of incoming dutiable parcels
|
|
|
(iii) Advice of delivery of registered packets
|
|
|
(iv) Transfer to the parcel post in certain circumstances of packets posted irregularly as letter, etc. packets, and
|
|
|
(v) Search, re-addressing, and attendance in connection with postal packets in bond.
