I, Micheál Martin, Minister for Health and Children, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 5 of the Food Safety Authority of Ireland Act, 1998 ( No. 29 of 1998 ), after consultation with the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment and the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development hereby order as follows:

1.       This Order may be cited as the Food Safety Authority of Ireland Act, 1998 (Amendment of First and Second Schedules) (No. 1) Order, 2000.

Explanatory Note

(This is not part of the instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

The effect of this Order is to amend the First Schedule to the Food Safety Authority of Ireland Act. Since the Act was passed in July 1998 new food legislation has been passed and existing food legislation has been amended or revoked. In effect, this Order updates the list of food legislation contained in the First Schedule.

The Second Schedule is also amended to take into account the change in the name of the Minister for Agriculture and Food (now the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development).

For ease of reading, the amended First Schedule, Part II, is included below:
