I, JOE WALSH, Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3 and 30 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (No. 6 of 1966) (as adapted by the Agriculture and Food (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 1999 ( S.I. No. 307 of 1999 )), and for the purpose of giving effect to the Commission Decision 2001/740/EC of 19 October 2001¹ as amended by Commission Decision 2001/763/EC of 30 October 2001² , Commission Decision 2001/789/EC of 12 November 2001³ , Commission Decision 2001/848/EC of 30 November 2001⁴ , Commission Decision 2001/911/EC of 19 December 2001⁵ , Commission Decision 2001/938 of 28 December 2001⁶ and Commission Decision 2002/37/EC of 15 January 2002⁷ , hereby order as follows:

1.  This Order may be cited as the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (Foot-and-Mouth Disease) (Restriction on Imports from the United Kingdom) (No. 3) Order 2001 (Second Amendment) Order 2002.

2.  The Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (Foot-and-Mouth Disease) (Restriction on Imports from the United Kingdom) (No. 3) Order 2001 ( Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (Foot-and-Mouth Disease) (Restriction on Imports from the United Kingdom) (No. 3) Order 2001 (Amendment) Order, 2002 ( S.I. No. 6 of 2002 )), of--

“  ‘Commission Decision’ means Commission Decision 2001/740/EC of 19 October 2001¹ as amended by Commission Decision 2001/763/EC of 30 October 2001², Commission Decision 2001/789/EC of 12 November 2001³, Commission Decision 2001/848/EC of 30 November 2001⁴, Commission Decision 2001/911/EC of 19 December 2001⁵, Commission Decision 2001/938 of 28 December 2001⁶ and Commission Decision 2002/37/EC of 15 January 2002⁷;”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order takes the necessary steps to implement Commission Decision 2002/37/EC regarding foot-and-mouth disease in the United Kingdom.
