EDUCATION AND SCIENCE (DELEGATION OF MINISTERIAL FUNCTIONS) (No. 2) ORDER 2002.

EDUCATION AND SCIENCE (DELEGATION OF MINISTERIAL FUNCTIONS) (No. 2) ORDER 2002.

The Government, on the request of the Minister for Education and Science and in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 2(1) of the Ministers and Secretaries (Amendment) (No. 2) Act 1977 (No. 28 of 1977), hereby order as follows:

1.  This Order may be cited as the Education and Science (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) (No. 2) Order 2002.

2.  The powers and duties of the Minister for Education and Science that are conferred on that Minister of the Government by or under--

(a) the Children Acts 1908 to 1989 in so far as they relate to children and young persons within the meaning of those Acts, and

(b) the Children Act 2001 (No. 24 of 2001) in so far as it relates to children within the meaning of that Act,

are hereby delegated to Brian Lenihan, Minister of State at the Department of Education and Science.
