To be made by the Minister for Social and Family Affairs

I, Mary Coughlan, Minister for Social and Family Affairs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 of the Family Support Agency Act, 2001 ( No. 54 of 2001 ) (as adapted by the Social, Community and Family Affairs (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2002 ( S.I. No. 310 of 2002 )), hereby order as follows:

1.         This Order may be cited as the Family Support Agency Act, 2001 (Establishment Day) Order 2003.

2.         The 6th day of May 2003 is appointed as the establishment day for the purposes of the Family Support Agency Act, 2001 (No. 54 of 2001) .

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

This Order provides that the 6th day of May, 2003 shall be the day of establishment of the new Family Support Agency. The Family Support Agency will provide a family mediation service, support, promote and develop the Family and Community Services Resource Centre programme, undertake research on family issues and provide information about relationships education, parenting issues and family responsibilities.
