I, DERMOT AHERN, MINISTER FOR Communications, Marine and Natural Resources, in the exercise of the powers conferred on me by Section 19(2) of No. 17 of 1968 ) and the Marine and Natural Resources (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order ( S.I. NO. 307 of 2002 ) and having regard to the International Convention on Load Lines signed in London on 5 April 1966, as amended by the Protocol of 1988, hereby make the following order:- |

1. Citation |
This Order may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Load Lines) (Exemption) (Amendment) Order 2003. 2. Regulation 3 of the Merchant Shipping (Load Lines) (Exemption) Order 2002 is amended in paragraph (1) by substituting for subparagraph (f) the following paragraph |

“(f) vessels in respect of which passenger boat licenses specifying the limits beyond which the vessel shall not ply are in force and which operate solely within those limits”. |

This Order amends the Merchant Shipping (Load Lines) (Exemption) Order exempting passenger boats from the provisions of the Load Lines Act. |
