ROADS ACT 1993 (CLASSIFICATION OF NATIONAL ROADS) (GORMANSTON TO DUNDALK ROUTE AND DUNDALK WESTERN BYPASS) ORDER 2004.

ROADS ACT 1993 (CLASSIFICATION OF NATIONAL ROADS) (GORMANSTON TO DUNDALK ROUTE AND DUNDALK WESTERN BYPASS) ORDER 2004.

I, SÉAMUS BRENNAN, Minister for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 10 of the Roads Act 1993 ( No. 14 of 1993 ) and the National Roads and Road Traffic (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order 2002 ( S.I. No. 298 of 2002 ) (as adapted by the Public Enterprise (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2002 ( S.I. No. 305 of 2002 )), after consultation with the National Roads Authority, hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Roads Act 1993 (Classification of National Roads) (Gormanston to Dundalk Route and Dundalk Western Bypass) Order 2004.

2. The public road in the counties of Louth and Meath described in Schedule 1 to this Order is classified as a national road and shall be a national primary road.

3. The proposed public road bypassing the town of Dundalk in the county of Louth described in Schedule 2 to this Order is classified as a national road and shall be a national primary road.

SCHEDULE 1

N1 Gormanston to Dundalk

Between the N1 northwest of the town of Balbriggan (in the vicinity of the townland of Gormanston in the county of Meath) and the N1 south of the town of Dundalk (in the vicinity of the townlands of Haynestown and Gibstown in the county of Louth) by-passing Julianstown, Drogheda, Dunleer and Castlebellingham.

SCHEDULE 2

Dundalk Western Bypass

Between the N1 south of the town of Dundalk (in the vicinity of the townlands of Haynestown and Gibstown) and the N1 north of the town of Dundalk (in the vicinity of the townlands of Faughart Lower and Aghaboys) by-passing (on its western side) the town of Dundalk.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

This Order, made under the Roads Act 1993 , provides for the classification of the proposed Dundalk Western Bypass as a national road and the existing public road extending approximately between Gormanston in County Meath and south of Dundalk in County Louth as a national road.
