Criminal courts in Ireland may fine witnesses who do not attend when summoned. 8. ... It shall and may be lawful for every court in Ireland having by law jurisdiction over criminal offences, upon proof being made of the service, either personally or at the residence of the person or persons required to attend, of any summons to appear and give evidence in such court touching any offence, to impose upon the person so served, in case of his or her disobeying such summons, such fine or fines as the court shall in its discretion think proper, and to direct that the same shall be levied and raised in manner herein-after mentioned.
