The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, being a Minister designated[1] for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972[2] for the regulation of the type, description, construction or equipment of vehicles, and of components of vehicles, and in particular any type approval scheme, in exercise of the powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.
These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Cycles Etc. (EC Type Approval) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2001 and shall come into force on 24th May 2001.
Amendments to Schedule 1 (Separate Directives)
2.
Schedule 1 to the Motor Cycles Etc. (EC Type Approval) Regulations 1999[3] shall be amended in accordance with regulation 3.
3.
- (1) In the third and fourth columns of the Table shall be inserted the entries specified below.
(2) In item 2 (identification of controls, tell-tales and indicators), after the last entry -

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations further amend the Motor Cycles Etc. (EC Type Approval) Regulations 1999.
Regulation 3 inserts references to recent EC Directives in items 2, 4 and 8 in the Table in Schedule 1 to the 1999 Regulations.
In line with the 1999 Regulations, the Directives are marked with a * to denote that they are Commission Directives.
Copies of the EC Directives referred to in these Regulations can be obtained from the Stationery Office.
